Creamy bacon chicken ingredients
- Smart Chicken breast- This is my favorite chicken brand! The chicken is super high quality and it is air-chilled, delivering the best flavor and texture. I choose this brand over and over because of its humane and sustainable farming practices.
- Bacon- Bacon is cooked in the skillet and the grease is left in the pan so the chicken can be pan seared in it for extra flavor!
- Seasoning- Garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper are sprinkled onto the chicken breasts before they are dredged in flour.
- Flour- The chicken is seasoned and dredged in flour to give it a delicious crispy outside.
- Parmesan cheese- Grated parmesan cheese is used to thicken and flavor the cream sauce,
- Dijon mustard- A pinch of dijon mustard gives the bacon cream sauce a down home cookin’ feel!
- Heavy cream- Grab a good quality heavy cream since this will be the base of the sauce.
Chef’s tips
Cut the chicken breasts
I recommend slicing the chicken breasts in half because this cuts down on cooking time and provides more portions. You can tenderize the chicken breasts with a mallet if you would like, although I did not for this recipe and the chicken breasts were super tender and juicy!
What to serve creamy bacon chicken with
This chicken breast recipe can be served with so much because it’s so versatile! Here are a few ways you could really elevate this dish:
How to make creamy bacon chicken
- Place the bacon in a large (cold) skillet or pan, then place it over medium heat. Cook the bacon until it is crispy (about 8-10 minutes), then remove it from the pan, keeping the grease in it.
- Season the chicken with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dredge the chicken in the flour and shake off the excess.
- Place the chicken in the pan and sear on each side for 4 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and place it to the side.
- Pour the chicken broth (or water and chicken bouillon) into the pan and allow it to reduce by half, about 3 minutes. Add the butter and stir until it has melted.
- Add the heavy cream and bring it to a simmer, then add the parmesan cheese and stir until it is melted.
- Place the chicken back in the pan along with any juices. Allow the chicken and sauce to simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Crumble the bacon over the chicken and sauce. Serve with your favorite sides and eat up!
How to store and reheat
You can store the creamy bacon chicken in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Since the cream sauce has bacon grease in it, the sauce can separate when it is refrigerated. Take the chicken out of the container, then whisk the sauce before heating it up to get a smooth, creamy texture. You can reheat the chicken and sauce in the microwave or stove at 350 degrees for a few minutes until it is heated through.
