Chef’s Tips
- Reserve some pasta water after boiling to adjust the sauce’s thickness. The starchy water enhances the sauce’s smooth texture.
- If you enjoy a more pronounced citrus flavor, add a touch of freshly grated lemon zest along with the lemon juice.
- Use pre-cooked chicken to save time; just add it in during the final steps to warm it through.
- For a creamier dish, stir in heavy cream or substitute the stock with whole milk, and donโt forget a sprinkle of Parmesan for extra richness.
Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped chicken: Use fresh or pre-cooked chicken for convenience. Season it to perfection for a flavorful base.
- 4 cups farfalle pasta (uncooked): Also known as bow-tie pasta, this shape holds the sauce beautifully. Substitute with penne or fusilli if desired.
- 3 tablespoons butter: Adds richness and a creamy base for sautรฉing the garlic and chicken.
- 1 tablespoon garlic (minced): Fresh garlic is best, but jarred works in a pinch for that bold, aromatic flavor.
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice: Brightens the dish with a tangy zing; fresh is preferred for optimal flavor.
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning: A blend of herbs that complements the garlic and chicken perfectly.
- 1 teaspoon white pepper: Adds a mild, earthy heat while keeping the sauceโs light color.
- Salt to taste: Enhances the overall flavor; adjust based on personal preference.
Substitutions
- Chicken: Swap with shrimp or tofu for a different protein.
- Butter: Replace with olive oil for a lighter option.
- Lemon juice: Use lime juice or white wine for a similar tangy flavor.
- Italian seasoning: Create your own blend with dried basil, oregano, and thyme.
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the farfalle pasta according to package directions. Drain but do not rinse. - Prepare the Chicken:
Season the chicken with Italian seasoning, white pepper, and salt. Set aside. - Sautรฉ Garlic:
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sautรฉ for about 1 minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning. - Cook the Chicken:

Stir the cooked, drained pasta into the skillet with the chicken and garlic. - Add Lemon and Seasoning:
Drizzle with lemon juice and adjust seasonings to taste. Toss well to combine. - Serve and Enjoy:
Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese or chopped parsley for extra flavor and serve warm.
Storage and Reheating
- Refrigeration: Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 4 days.
